The 4th Annual Pink Flamingo Awards, one of South Florida’s most fun and entertaining events, lit up Jungle Island on Thursday, September 22nd. A benefit for The Hub at the LGBT Visitor Center on Miami Beach, the Pink Flamingo Awards honor people, places and organizations that have demonstrated a level of excellence in the South Florida community throughout the year.
“One of the things that sets the Pink Flamingo Awards apart from other recognition events is that it is members of the community who select the award recipients,” said Lori Lynch, Executive Director of The Hub at the LGBT Visitor Center. “This is one of the reasons we chose the theme Community Celebrating Community for the event, as all of the individuals and organizations are submitted by the people who know them or use their services.”
The theme also reflects the fact that the Pink Flamingo Awards is the sole fundraising event for The Hub at the LGBT Visitor Center, enabling it to continue to provide programming and services to residents and visitors alike.

I absolutely love the Flamingo Awards. In just a short span of time, they have become a fun, festive, frolicking must-be-seen-at event. In addition to that, they are an awesome way to bring the LGBTQ community and our straight/other allies together to honor each other for our achievements, to recognize leaders, entertainers, businesses, etc. and just to have a grand ol’ gay time in hometown fellowship.
“I had the best experience and best time at The 2nd Annual Pink Flamingo Awards ... How could I not? I won best drag queen of the year mi amor!
Well not only that, but just being nominated and participating was just an honor. Long live The Pink Flamingo Awards”
“What an honor it was to win "favorite DJ" at the 2nd annual Pink Flamingo Awards. Lori Lynch, executive director and her crew organized and produced a top notch event! Definitely one of the events in South Florida that honors our community that is not to be missed!!”
“I was honored that the community voted ‘AIDS Walk Miami” the BEST FUNDRAISER” during the 2014 Pink Flamingo Awards. When the community comes together and united around a cause, not only do we break down stigma little by little, but we are one step closer to a cure. I look forward to the awards in 2015.
“As the Winner of "Favorite Bartender" 2014, I have to say the Pink Flamingo Awards were such an amazing experience for me. The Time and Effort that Lori Lynch placed into these awards was beyond words. She is simply the best. The Awards meant a lot to me because it was the 1st award I have been given and to receive an award for the work that you love to do is such an honor. I am looking forward to see what Lori will put together this year. I am sure it will go above and beyond. This award show is a Must Go To and I hope to see you all there xoxo”.
It was a huge honor for my organization to be chosen as “Favorite Nonprofit Organization.” The Task Force works in communities all across the nation, but we have a wonderful history and a beautiful love affair with Miami. So to get this kind of recognition from the members at the community at an awards celebration hosted by one of the most important institutions on Miami Beach is gratifying beyond words. It was a magical night.
“The Pink Flamingo Awards recognize the best of the best of our community. I am thrilled to be selected as the first ever ‘Favorite Local Hero.’ There were some exemplary community activists nominated for this award, who inspire me to continue my work in the community. The Pink Flamingo Awards are a “People’s Choice” style awards that recognize the people and places that have helped make Miami Beach a world-class city and travel destination. For me being recognized by my peers and colleagues and hearing my name called out to a packed audience as the music blared Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero” is an experience I will never forget!”
“The Flamingo awards gala is not only an amazingly fun and fabulous event for its creativity, entertainment, and of course networking; but more importantly it brings together our amazing and diverse community of South Florida to celebrate the things and places that we love and the people who are really making a difference in our community. The Flamingo Awards truly represent pride and love and are a celebration of what makes our lives and this amazing city the paradise that it is for all!”
"After months of hosting and entertaining the World, the Pink Flamingo Awards hosts the Miami Beach LGBT community with an evening recognizing those individuals and organizations that give so much. A magical night for sure!"
